The Fluorescence Polarization Systems provide a rapid and precise way to measure equilibrium binding and/or molecular degradation, with picomolar sensitivity, for a wide range of biological molecules. Fluorescence polarization takes advantage of the change in the speed of rotation that occurs when a fluorescent molecule binds to another molecule. The Systems are useful in performing immunoassays, determining antibody specificity and affinity, and providing protein-DNA and receptor-ligand binding measurements. Affinity binding is measured directly in solution, with each data point obtained in just a few seconds (6 seconds minimum). This simple, direct approach eliminates the need for any filtration, gel mobility shift assays, or immobilization techniques, with fluorescent labeling eliminating the use of radioisotopes
The Fluorescence Polarization Systems are stand alone, bench-top instruments that offer sensitive polarization measurement (requiring as little as 10fmol/mL of fluorescently labled sample), in a single-tube-format. The instruments use standard disposable glass cuvettes and their small footprint
maximizes precious bench space. The instruments have an onboard operating software that lets the user store up to 99 user-defined protocols and send data directly to a printer or your personal computer for analysis.

Polarizers - Glan-Taylor prisms with Extinction coefficient >10,000 from 280-900nm
Standard System - 360-700nm Quartz Halogen lamp
Polarizers - Film type with Extinction coefficient >10,000 from 400-700nm

Filters - Special fluorescein Interference filters (490nm Excit. and 525nm Emiss.)
Easy filter exchange for use with wide range of fluophores
Sample format - Single tube, Cell holders for 6mm (100µl) and 10mm (500µl)

Precision - <2mP S.D. at 1nM fluorescein for 0.5mL sample
